Desde la asignatura de Inglés, el alumnado de 2º de Bachillerato ha realizado unos artículos de opinión con su profesora Mariluz Beltrán, en este caso sobre la igualdad en el mundo de las noticias deportivas.
In the world of sport news, there is a noticeable gap between the coverage given to male
and female athletes. Whereas men often grab the headlines, women seem to get less
attention. I strongly believe that sport news should be shared equally between men and
women to create a fairer and more balanced media scene.
To start with, giving equal coverage challenges the old idea that men’s sports are always
more exciting or important. When both genders get the same spotlight, it helps to break
down stereotypes and shows that skill and talent are not limited by gender.
Moreover, fair coverage encourages and motivates female athletes. When young girls see
their sport heroines getting as much attention as men, it tells them that their achievements
matter. This increase in visibility can make women’s sports more popular, attracting more
fame and support.
Taking everything into consideration, achieving equality in sport news in not just about
being fair; it is about changing attitudes and making progress for women in sports. We all
should celebrate the achievements of both male and female athletes equally, creating a
more inclusive and forward-thinking sports media environment.

Nowadays, it is often said that there has been a growing call for gender equality in numerous
sectors and the world of sports is one of those. A key element for this increase in equality is
the distribution of sport news.
To begin with, equality for men and women in sports news is necessary in order to put an end
to the old-fashion idea about genders. However, the world of the sports has always focused on
men’s sports implying that men’s sports are more important or enjoyable.
Apart from that, fostering equality can encourage more young girls to practice some sports if
they see that women’s sports receive the same importance as those of men.
All in all, dividing sports news equally for men and women is a crucial step to achieve gender
equality.

When it comes to sports news, an important shift is overdue: equality in coverage between
men’s and women’s sports. Currently, media disproportionately highlights men’s events,
perpetuating gender disparity.
To foster inclusivity, a balanced allocation of coverage is imperative. By featuring women’s
sports with the same vigour as men’s, we empower female athletes, inspire future generations
and challenge traditional norms.
Equal representation does not only benefit women, it enhances the overall sports narrative,
showcasing diverse talents and stories. Media plays a pivotal role in shaping society
perceptions, and by giving equitable attention to both genders, we challenge stereotypes and
promote a more inclusive sporting culture.
Taking all this into consideration, embracing this change is not just a matter of fairness. It is a
stride toward a sports landscape that truly celebrates excellence, regardless of gender. It is
time for sports news to reflect the equality we aspire to see in every aspect of our society.
